# Why I'm Not A Christian There have been times when I seriously considered Christianity for my religion. The last time was this month. But I finally have concluded that Christianity is not for me. I love Jesus. I respect the apostles. I like theologians like Palamas, Athenagoras, &c. I often find that the Orthodox church literally does what I want to do just within the Christianity boundary. It is essentially Neoplatonic. Perennial is ecumenical. And I consider itself a cultural heritage directly came from the Roman empire. It is a living fossil. A tradition itself. Although I don't like Thomism and strong hierarchy, I quite like the Catholic church too. Especially I like distributism. Also I love people like Francis of Assisi. Catholic has its simplicity, frugality, cleanness. I really like it. But Christianity is not for me. Why? 1. It's too historical. I know that the New Testament makes Christianity far different from Judaism. But it still heavily depends on Jewish history. Christ is just a Greek term for Messiah in Hebrew. It's too Jewish specific. It's too historical. I want a philosophical religion. 2. In the end, I don't like Abrahamic religions. I love Greek. I love Hindu. I respect Egyption and Persian. But Abrahamic? My body strongly resists it. This is also partially why I don't like Protestant. If you remove nonbiblical things from Christianity, it becomes quite close to Judaism. Besides Jesus, what makes this religion attractive is its Greek or Latin nonbiblical tradition. 3. I accept reincarnation. If I really have to, I might be able to dispose it. But heaven & hell and the judgement do not make any sense to me. In contrast, reincarnation really makes sense if I think of the cycles and seasonality of the cosmos. So I'm not going to be a Christian. This also means that I'm not going to be in a major religion. Because I don't want to go for Hinduism or Buddhism bypassing the Orthodox church.
