# Why Hedonism Enslaves You

Because unlike your mind, your body and the material world in gene
ral are subjects to fate.

Fate = Laws of nature + Logics (causes and effects)

So there is not really a free will in the material world. In addit
ion to fate, there is randomness. But since you can't control rand
omness too, there is no free will anyway.

Free will derives from the mind and the spirit. Because those are
free from fate. It's like playing a visual novel: You play pre-wri
tten scenarios with some randomly generated parts but you can make
your choices with your MIND. So you can choose a route.

Hedonism seeks materialistic pleasures. By that, it makes your min
d and spirit far more dependent on your body. Hence it makes your
mind and spirit subjects to fate. This makes you lose your free wi
ll.

For example, if you drink alcohol much, you'll be drunk. If you wa
tch porn, you'll be arroused. It's not your will to be drunk or to
be arroused. There is no free will in these cases.

(Well, it can be your WILL as the philosophical term WILL but what
I mean is the usual meaning. Not the term WILL.)


However, I'm not saying the material world is therefore an evil. I
t's not.

It's more like a double-edged sword. The material world is not inh
erently wrong. But to affect the material world, you need your bod
y. Because of that you become a subject to fate.

So the best way is becoming as independent as possible from fate w
hile still holding good control of the material world via your bod
y. And deal with the material world by making arts. Art converts t
he temporal into the eternal.
