# We Should Build Own Infrastructure Now I'm tired to fight botnets. I have realized that band-aiding the current corrupt system will never work. What we really should do is building alternatives instead. Leave the system as much as you can, instead of fighting or fixing. For example, if you use Invidious, you just use YouTube in the end and it's just a botnet. If you want to change the situation, you should build your own PeerTube instance and change the environment. The same goes with everything offline. In order to do that, we need own suckless infrastructure. In other words, if you want to build a PeerTube instance, there should be PeerTube software and ActivityPub protocol beforehand. For small things, you could build yourself and I think that's the best way. Buy some land. Do homestead. Catch raindrops and filter it. &c. If you are a good person, you could provide your infrastructure for your neighbors too. But you can't build large infrastructure like a harbor yourself. Therefore we should cooperate. For digital, I think the FOSS way of cooperating is already good enough. But for analog, we can't simply apply it. It is partially because unlike digital, there is always scarcity. Making cooperatives like Mondragon could be a way. But there is no perfect way at all and cooperatives could be unsuitable for global cooperation. The following is a list of critical infrastructure for your intuition. How far could we build for ourselves? ## Critical Infrastructure * Water - Supply & Protection, Waste water, ... * Food - Production & Distribution * Health - Hospital, Ambulance, ... * Safety - Defense, Security, ... * Energy - Generation & Distribution * Transportation - Roads, Bridges, ... * Communication - Post, Media, Internet, ... * Education - School or Tutoring, Library, ... * Manufacturing - Workshop, Factory, ... * Economic Sector - Marketplace, Finance, ... P.S. By the way, this post also means that I'm considering to build a proper server at my home (not VPS) in not too distant future. Maybe in 2024-2025? I'll go for analog alternatives first so that it could be delayed. At that time, I'll get a new domain name too. But since I think Neocities is a good infrastructure and for the continuity of my website, I'll still use Neocities as a mirror. Maybe I'll use an onion domain for my server and Neocities for a clearnet mirror.
