# On Compliments This might be only my case. But I always have prefered receiving compliments that are for their selfish reasons rather than that for altruistic reasons. Of course the ideal is when the two meet. As I wrote on the post "Where Selfishness And Altruism Meet". But if I have to choose one, I strongly prefer compliments that do not consider the listener. Like those that seem like ridiculously long essays. Rather than those that have tons of considerations. The former occasionally makes me want to do something for them. In contrast, the latter makes me think that they are polite and well-mannered. That is a plus. But not much more than that.
