# Making Unconscious Conscious

Carl Jung has written about alchemy being "making unconscious
conscious". That's technically not false, but that focuses on one
aspect of alchemy too much. As above, so below. Alchemy is universal.

However, if you are new to alchemy, I think that approach is actually
a good way to grasp alchemical concepts. Like the One is the
conscious and the All is the unconscious. Or Albedo dissolves
thoughts and concepts on the conscious into the unconscious (Mercury),
and Rubedo coagulates (Fire) again to bring other unconscious
thoughts onto the conscious too.
