Taxonomy with evolution is called systematics. Plant systematics i
s basically the evolutionary history of plants. Systematics deals
with WHY, while taxonomy deals with WHAT. Systematics is about the
process while taxonomy is about the result.

I don't say systematics is superior. But if you study one of them,
you should study the other too.
