# I've Made A LBRY Channel To Archive http://lbry.vern.i2p/@Archives:9 I've uploaded some Vtuber stuff today but I'll upload other things too. But I will not make a video. This is for archiving only. If I really want to watch some videos on YouTube, I'll yt-dlp it v ia Invidious and upload it on the channel. So some other people wi ll not have to rely on YouTube to watch them. Maybe if you ask me via email I would upload for you in my free time. Since Anonfiles closed, I had to put Invidious links on my website . So I had been searching for an alternative. The best option was PeerTube. But the problem is that video sharing requires a lot of bandwidth, computing power, storage. I'm going to build a home server in not too distant future. So it would cost much more if I have to buy mo re expensive hardware and use faster internet. Of course, I don't think many people would watch my channel. But I want to start my f irst home server with a low-cost SBC. Also, I want to use a tiny s olar panel for its power if I can. PeerTube requires much more tha n that. Alternatively, I can buy a VPS only for PeerTube. Maybe I will bui ld a VPN with Wireguard in that case. But then I don't have much o ptions for this use case. I want to pay with Monero if I can. Also it will cost more but I will not have the hardware at the end. I h ave to deal with both the home server and the VPS too. Therefore I have made a LBRY channel for the transitional period. I'll move to PeerTube or another better option in the future. I kn ow that Odysee is a botnet and the official LBRY app tracks you. S o use Librarian or other private clients. https://gothub.no-logs.com/LBRYFoundation/Awesome-LBRY There were some reasons for choosing LBRY: 1. It doesn't really censor and honestly shows the result if I sea rch "The Earth is flat". Of course, I'm not a flat Earther though. 2. Although I don't like the blockchain way of decentralization, a t least the blockchain itself is somewhat decentralized. 3. At least LBRY protocol itself is FOSS. 4. LBRY, Inc. is not a megacorp like Google. And isn't it shutting down? 5. It doesn't cost money to simply use. 6. It is somewhat famous unlike other alternatives. It really sucks but I don't think there is a better alternative. For the format, I'm going to use [AV1 or VP9] + [Opus] for all vid eos. If I upload in this format, it shows > Your video may not be the best format. Use MP4s in H264/AAC form > at and a friendly bitrate (under 8 Mbps) for more reliable strea > ming. but I'll dismiss and just upload. Why should I use proprietary for mats? If you try to download the videos it will show as *.mp4 but those are actually *.webm. Video will be 480p for general and 720p for live performances. I t hink this would be the bare minimum. I will not upgrade the qualit y because I hate unnecessary high quality for video. 480p (especia lly 640x480) is the divine resolution too. Audio will be in 2.5ms-per-frame low-latency mode. This requires 1 .75x of the original size so I have to increase the file size thou gh. But comparing with video size, audio size difference is quite negligable. But the sound difference, especially for music, is eno rmous. For ASMR, I've tried to use just *.opus but Librarian can't play i t. I can't understand why the web browser can play *.opus but can' t play on Librarian. Sure, you should just use yt-dlp but I don't think most viewers will use it. So it will include a 480p video as a bloat. Technically, I can use 228kbps (128kbps origin) for most YouTube o rigined audio and super low quality video for ASMR. Many videos ar e actually 228kbps. But since 336kbps (192kbps origin) opus is tot ally transparent, I gave up and set 336kbps as the default and don 't care about the source because of my laziness. Similar for ASMR. I've set 480p as the default and 720p as the high quality option i n my script. P.S. Fuck LBRY. It's Cloudflared as hell. And I stopped archiving because I realized that I have downloaded most of the videos (80~9 0%) only to archive. I haven't watched them at all so why should I archive?
