# Film Is Hugely Overrated

Don't get me wrong, good films are good. I actually have some
favorite directors like Andrei Tarkovsky. But I can't understand
the dominance of film as the de facto standard media art form.
Especially I always have hated video games trying to be a film.

Film is in fact a worse media art form. It is too limited by the
spacetime and the cost because of that. It is inherently suitable
for "realism". Therefore it is usually too down to earth compared
to other art forms. To make a film transcendental like Tarkovsky
you need a lot of effort. Think about how many films deal with
social problems compared to other art forms. No wonder why Marxists
love films.
