# English Is Bloated As I wrote on a recent post, I'm constantly learning Greek in my free time. And one thing I feel is that English is bloated. Especially the most bloated thing in English is that you should always say the subject and "do". For example "Do you want a glass of wine?" in English is simply "Want a glass wine?" in Greek. Or even "Want wine?". If the amount is not necessary. Latin is almost the same with Greek. What is translated to English as "I think, therefore I am" is in fact "Think therefore Am". So I omit about it here. In Japanese while there are too many things like "of", the subject is still not absolutely necessary. And there are no such things like "do" and "a". To translate the sentence, maybe "Wine drink-would?" in Japanese. "drink-would" is for the courtesy. Japanese language cares too much about courtesy. Though simply saying "Wine drink?" might be fine if the two were friends. You would respond to it by saying "Drink-would.".
