# Favorite Animes I realized that I haven't written my favorite anime list during almost 3 years of my website history. So here is my list. I categorized it into "Somewhat Serious" and "Not Serious". It is not about whether the animes are objectively serious. It is all about the subjective purpose of watching the animes. I watched "somewhat serious" animes mainly for philosophical or ideological reasons. "Not serious" animes are not. This list is not an one time post. I will continuously modify. The initial list is just what floated on my mind out of nowhere. ## Somewhat Serious * Blue Reflection Ray A hidden masterpiece. My all time favorite. It was unfortunate that the budget and sell were too low. It does not have BD. If you like Schopenhauer, Jung, &c., you would definitely like this. For example, "The Common" in this anime represents the collective unconscious and the archetypes in it. "Omoi" or "Feelings" in this anime is definitely Will by Schopenhauer. Or if you are interested in Kabbalah. This anime also contains the Sefirot and those things. And maybe Hermeticism. I see sulphur and mercury from each side. Conversely, it would not make any sense if you don't know all those things. That's why almost nobody knows this anime besides some maniac imageboard users. I like the first ending composed by syudou. Especially at the end of the episode 12. I don't like syudou that much. But I like that. It might be boring maybe until the episode 5. But after that, it starts to elevate the tension. It eventually becomes a religious turmoil. * Puella Magi Madoka Magica You might call this a normie choice but still. I don't think I need to explain this anime. But still to explain somewhat, it took the motive from Faust. And Kaname Madoka represents Christianity. Sacrifice, love, miracle, salvation, &c. These are my thoughts about each character. The order is based on how much I like. 1. Miki Sayaka: An ordinary person who tries to be noble. But things go tragic. 2. Akemi Homura: Hero. By the way, based on personality tests she has one of the closest personalities from me. Is it like that? 3. Kaname Madoka: She has preserved her innocence even after all the tragedy. I really respect that. Messiah. But 3rd because of her incompetency. 4. Sakura Kyoko: Neutral opinion. I don't agree with her. But I don't think she's harmful like Mami. 5. Tomoe Mami: Pseudo-professional. Shut the mouth up. The ending of the episode 9 is composed by wowaka. And... the Latin lyrics of the OSTs composed by Kajiura Yuki are not really Latin. * Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story This might not be serious in general. But it has some serious symbolisms. I first met this series via the stage play version acted by Hiragana Keyaki. It took the motive from Iroha Uta. It is a famous religious poem which uses every hiragana character exactly once. So "I Ro Ha Ni Ho He To Chi Ri Nu Ru Wo" in this poem is like "ABCDEFGHIJKL". The name of the protagonist is Tamaki Iroha. She starts a travel to find her hypothetical little sister Tamaki Ui. "Iroha" literally means "The color is". It is the first part of Iroha Uta. The color means the material world or Maya. I have written a post about it. Check it. She tries to find Ui and meets various hardships. "Ui" means the sufferings caused by life. After all, "Tamaki" literally means circle or ring. It means reincarnation or dependent origination. Besides that, circle itself is considered the perfect shape in Zen Buddhism. The secondary title of the final season is "Asaki Yume no Akatsuki". "Dawn of a Shallow Dream" in English. Shallow dream means life. It appears at the final part of Iroha Uta. Right after where "Ui" appears. In the final season, most characters including Iroha go die. The revolution by the Magius and its Wings fails. The OST "Uwasa Kazoe Uta" is composed by a psychedelic big name J.A. Seazer. It is one of my favorite anime OSTs. Personally, this anime always makes me want to study math. I don't know why. So I watched this anime again and again. Whenever I have to study but do not have a motivation. This section is so long because of that. It is notable that TrySail is the main cast. Iroha's seiyuu is Mocho. Mocho is the protagonist! Though I like Nansu more. But I don't like the animes in which Nansu had a main role. Like High School Fleet for example. Azusa Mifuyu is my favorite in general. Not just in this anime. In contrast I consider Yachiyo pure evil. I will definitely join the Wings of Magius if I were in this world. * Happy Sugar Life It is fucked up. It is so fucked up that I don't know how to summarize this anime. And I like it because of that. The protagonist is a beautiful high school girl who kidnaps an abandoned loli. She kills a painter and live in the painter's house with the loli. But why I like is that it questions your morality. The protagonist seemingly does not harm the loli. Instead she treats the loli as a pet. She takes genuine care of her by love. In the end, she even sacrifices her life to save the loli. It becomes a Platonic love. I could even say that for the loli, living with the protagonist might be actually the best choice. I consider it unethical because I think having a pet itself is unethical. Do not domesticate. * Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club This is nothing serious in itself at all. But if you like distributism, mutualism, or even just individualism, you would definitely like this. I really like this anime for the ideological reason. Well, I might be crazy. They are not professional idols. It is just a club. And they are all solo idols! Because of that, the season 1 is almost an omnibus. Although they form units in the season 2, those are more similar to cooperatives. Compared to other Love Live! series, the seiyuu quality of Nijigasaki is way way better. Most of other Love Live! seiyuus are just idols. This one has proper seiyuus. My favorite is Takasaki Yu and her seiyuu Yano Hinaki. She is the manager. But I like her way more than any idols. It is notable that Tennoji Rina quite correctly represents the internet ideology. ## Not Serious I will add more later. * Non Non Biyori: I really like its agrarianism. But I rather enjoyed it as a slice of life. And I like Koiwai Kotori. Renge is her most famous role. * Super Cub: The protagonist uses Casio F91W and a dumbphone. That alone hooked me. The anime is great. And unlike Akebi's Sailor Uniform, there is no hurdle of fetishism. * Hanayamata: It seems like just cute girls doing cute things on the surface. But it is much more than that. Full of romanticism in a good sense. Ueshama doing yosakoi was great too. * Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: This anime is special. But I won't write any spoilers. Someone might say that this anime is serious. But I didn't watch it for philosophical or ideological reasons. I watched it just as an enjoyable dark story. * Adachi and Shimamura: Adachi kawaii. The pair of Kito Akari and Ito Miku was good. The anime is so chill. I like Adachi's mental unstableness. * Maria-sama ga Miteru: Timeless classic.
