# A Particle Is Just A Quantum Of A Field

like a photon. It carries electromagnetic field but there is the
photoelectric effect. So it is easier to understand if you think
electromagnetic field is quantized and a photon is a quanta of
electromagnetic field.

Of course you can just use wave-particle duality. But it is much
simpler if you think there are only quantized fields and their
energies in the cosmos. We call a quanta of a field a particle. It
does not exist independently.

Also it is much simpler to deal with relativity if you just think
speeds of field propagations should be less than the speed of light
(the propagation speed of electromagnetic field). Dealing with
general relativity is still hard though since time is relative in
that case.

Summary: Schwinger was totally right and Aristotle was better than
Democritos. Atomism is a myth. The cosmos is full of fields. Not
the void with atoms.
