# A Particle Is Just A Quantum Of A Field

like a photon. It carries electromagnetic field but there is the p
hotoelectric effect. So it is easier to understand if you think el
ectromagnetic field is quantized and a photon is a quanta of elect
romagnetic field.

Of course you can just use wave-particle duality. But it is much s
impler if you think there are only quantized fields and their ener
gies in the cosmos. We call a quanta of a field a particle. It doe
s not exist independently.

Also it is much simpler to deal with relativity if you just think
speeds of field propagations should be less than the speed of ligh
t (the propagation speed of electromagnetic field). Dealing with g
eneral relativity is still hard though since time is relative in t
hat case.

Summary: Schwinger was totally right and Aristotle was better than
Democritos. Atomism is a myth. The cosmos is full of fields. Not t
he void with atoms.
